By using Topographic Map you agree to these terms. The tools are provided free of charge for personal and commercial reference use.

Nature of the service

The site renders open map data and queries open terrain models to display elevations. Values describe bare-earth terrain height referenced to mean sea level, sampled at roughly 30 m globally and about 10 m in the United States. Results are informational: they are not certified measurements, not a survey product, and not a flood-risk determination.

No professional reliance

Do not rely on these tools alone for engineering, construction, legal, insurance, aviation or safety-critical decisions. Engage qualified professionals and official data sources for those purposes.

Acceptable use

Automated scraping, bulk tile downloading, reselling of map tiles or search results, and any use that violates the usage policies of the underlying open-data providers (OpenStreetMap, Nominatim, OpenTopoMap, Mapterhorn) is not permitted. Access may be rate-limited to keep the service fair and available.

Availability

The service is offered as-is and as-available. Tiles and terrain data come from third-party open projects without service-level guarantees; availability of any particular page or layer may change.
